Question #1 - Can a spell work on someone who lives far away?
Real spells work on a "spiritual level" not physical, so there is no influence by physical things such as geographical distances or location of the targeted person. It really makes no difference where you are located, or where anyone else involved in your spellcasting may live, This is because the good spirits who work these spells live in a realm that has no physical limitations of boundaries, distances or locations as we know it. Spells will work regardless of locations of the people involved.

Question #2 - Where does your soul go when you die?
There are various religious opinions of what happens to us when we die.  And they are all opinions because nobody we know has actually come back from the dead to confirm exactly what happens after death.  Based on mainstream religious beliefs, there is an afterlife or world where your spirit lives on for an eternity.  And most would say that this is a peaceful and joyous place (heaven or paradise) where we dwell without the earthly worries we have all come to know.  Some believe there is also an opposite realm or "hell" that is reserved for the sinners who refuse to repent.  Perhaps this is true - I don't know for sure... nobody does.  But I have personally been in various séances where deceased family members have communicated back clear messages to loved ones that they are in a much more happy and peaceful place... "a better place" and not to worry about them.  So that makes me believe that there probably is a heaven or some place positive in nature where our spirits reside after we pass away.
